What is masculinity? The book and art exhibition Play The Man twist, turn and explores stereotypical images of masculinity and demonstrates how men are turnded into macho products in a consumer society.

The exhibition was one of the Museum of Labour’s most popular exhibitions of all time and was seen by nearly 40,000 visitors. Play The Man has resulted in almost 150 feature in television, radio, newspapers, web and two University essays and other schoolwork.

Along with texts written by, among others, Johan Ehrenberg, Christer Lindarw, Schyman and Birgitta Stenberg, challenged the accepted definition of a man and the interpretation of sex and sensuality, which we are accustomed to.
